FutureLearn offer a diverse range of massively online open courses (or MOOCs) from universities around the world. UEA is a leading partner and producer of content for the platform, and we were pleased to be once again commissioned by the MOOC team at UEA to produce the trailer and the entire set of course videos for their Food Fraud MOOC.
Building on our experience creating content for several previous MOOC courses, we aimed to increase the scope and production value for this project to ensure it was an engaging learning tool. Using our experience crafting engaging commercial content for brands, we approached filming the course from a more commercial viewpoint. We spent time lighting and shooting the content in a more cinematic way, ensuring it remains engaging for the viewer. In total, we produced over an hour of high quality course content, as well as a short trailer used to promote the course on the FutureLearn platform and across UEA’s social media.
This course and the previous MOOC courses we’ve produced content for have been hugely successful. UEA have had 120,000 learners graduate from their MOOC courses in the last 2 and a half years, which is more than have graduated from campus based courses in the university’s entire 52 year history.
"It has been a pleasure to work with Tom at Forward over the past few years, creating high quality films for our open online courses. Tom combines attention to detail with a real commitment to meeting deadlines. He is good at putting people at their ease when filming and he has always made sure the finished article meets our needs."
