The team’s technical expertise and storytelling skill created cohesive narratives from some challenging material. The resultant films are well-crafted, beautifully shot and moving, perfectly realising our creative vision and delivering a product beyond our expectations.

The Concept

After the success of the first series of #MoreThanAnImage in 2016, we were delighted to be commissioned to create a second series of films telling the stories of two new photographers and exploring their unique and inspirational relationships with photography.

Jim Mortram is a documentary photographer based in Norfolk. For the past decade, he has been telling the stories of people struggling to cope with the affects of austerity in the small rural community he lives in through his project, Small Town Inertia.

Jim discovered photography after being a carer for his mother for 15 years when a friend lent him a camera. For Jim, photography is a tool by which he interacts with his community and draws vital attention to the plight of those in society who are struggling to get by.

This series, like the first has been very well received, achieving well over 1 million views across various social platforms in their first month and high audience engagement figures. It’s also been featured widely across a number of high profile photography blogs and organisations, including PetaPixel, DIY Photographer and Photography News. The films were also screened as part of an exhibition featuring work from the 5 photographer’s which opened Wex’s new flagship store in Whitechapel, London.

This project was the work of these fine people
